Biography

Charley Hill was born and grew up in rural Sussex. An editor of her college newspaper for a year, and studying two English A-levels, she caught the bug for journalism at the age of 17.

Having worked at Bright FM in Sussex on a two week work placement in 2008, she immediately knew radio was where she wanted to work. The thrill and adrenaline of writing and producing news bulletins for each hourly deadline has since become addictive! “It was around the time of the Shannon Matthews court case, and there was breaking news almost every few minutes,” she says. “The excitement of knowing news first, and being the one to inform others is what drives me.”

Charley is a recent graduate of Staffordshire University, with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. This is where she found her niche – current affairs and politics.

She has an NCTJ qualification in Media Law, and has achieved NCTJ 100wpm Teeline shorthand.

She currently works at Stafford FM as a part time newsreader, and when not at university, as a part time presenter at Meridian FM in East Grinstead. She also does some part time filming work for Signal 1 radio in Stoke.
